"CA$H in at your craft shows..."

Visit my Web Journal where you will find my postings on a few "Tips and Tricks" that I believe might be sometimes 'overlooked', and hopefully you'll find some information that might be helpful if you participate in craft shows.  You can find my journal at:

And feel free to post your views and let me know you've visited... after all, we're all in this together, aren't we?

Welcome to "Spring Creek Craft Show Promotions"...

"Thank you for visiting my website.... my name is Pam."  I AM a 'crafter' and have participated in craft shows for many years.  I'd like to tell you a little about me and this (very meager) website...

When the opportunity came to promote and organize a craft show, I jumped (actually I "volunteered" and didn't know what I was getting myself into) at the opportunity (that was 18 years ago).  That first show was the July 4th Crafts Extravaganza at Kankakee Community College.  I think when that show was started, I 'may' have had around 20 crafters (if I was lucky).  Needless to say, I was very disappointed.  But one of my crafters told me, "DON'T GIVE UP !!!"  And EVERY year after that, I continued with higher expectations, and adjustments here and there, and in 2005, I believe I had 106 crafters participating (with probably about 25% of them renting 'double' booths) in addition to a truly 'wonderful crowd of customers'"I'd like to thank this crafter for encouraging me to 'not give up' and to stick with it... (her name just happens to be "Pam" too)!"

In my experience of participating in craft shows, I feel that some of the BEST craft shows are promoted and organized by people who are crafters themselves... they seem to understand the "ins" and "outs" of the business a little better.  And just when you think you've seen and heard it all, something 'new and different' comes about -- and let me tell you... you sure learn a LOT, and continue to learn a LOT...

In September, 2005, I was approached by the Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society to take over, promote and organize their Fall and Spring shows for them.  After much consideration, I consented, but I must admit I was VERY nervous.  This show was in its 31st year and had a past reputation of being a VERY GOOD SHOW.  Applications had already been sent out, and I was apprehensive, to say the least, to take over 'mid-stream'.  I feel like that show was a success as I was able to increase the total number of booths by 18 in November, 2005.  So now I continue to promote shows twice a year for the Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society.

And now when I contact crafters, they always say, "What OTHER shows do you promote?"  Eventually (when I grow up and maybe retire) I'd like to branch out even more and maybe promote and organize other shows... I was contacted by email in March '07 by a gal in Nebraska wondering if I had ever thought of promoting shows there.  (My-o-my, I took that as a compliment!)  At this point in my life (I am sole caregiver for my elderly mother; I try to make time to create my own crafts to sell at craft shows, plus organizing three shows a year (four if you count Crescent City's show - held every five years) I find that I stay pretty busy.

So, I've decided that I needed a website on the internet so people could 'find' information about my shows.  And, this saves time so you can print the application page and mail it off instead of waiting for me to mail you the information (would be nice if I could get the application pages so they would print off one page - I have never clamied to be a 'computer expert'!).

This is "Spring Creek Craft Show Promotions" (because 'Spring Creek' runs behind my house and I needed some kind of name, even though it's rather long - :)  You can also find the website by going to trak.to/pamcraft

And, of course, my daughter encourages me to "go into 'the business' of promoting craft shows...."  She is constantly telling me of "good" places where she thinks a craft show would go over.

You will find information for the shows that I am promoting on this website, and I want to personally invite you to apply for these successful, well-organized shows... I am told that they are some of the best-run craft shows in central Illinois (I'd like to think my crafters are truthful).  These shows seem to attract record attendance from both "skilled" crafts-people as well as the buying public who regard these shows as an "annual tradition" and "expectation".

So browse through my site, and if I can answer any questions, please contact me... you will find my contact information within the site.  (I may add some pictures of these shows as they happen.)

Oh... stop back frequently -- I hope to add and change the content as the need arises (when I have time)... you never know, you might see something you haven't seen before!

I'd love to have you join me for one (or more) of the shows... either as a booth participant OR as a customer.  Come and be a part of a "QUALITY" craft show!
